Welcome to Hebridean
Adventure for our ninth year.
We have some very exciting news in that we
have now been lucky enough to purchase a beautiful teak 70ft classic
gentleman's yacht, Cordelia, built in 1929 by Dickies of Tarbert in
Argyll for the personal use of the owner of Fyffes bananas. She has been
in private ownership all of her eighty three years apart from the war,
when she was owned by the Royal Navy and operated submarine patrol
duties in the Clyde Estuary.
We found her looking a bit forlorn in the Thames Estuary alongside the
Chatham Marine Heritage Museum and, after a full survey to check she was
sound, albeit in need of some TLC, delivered her up the East Coast and
through the Caledonian Canal to Tobermory, back to the county she was
built in.
We are undertaking a complete renovation and commercial certification in
preparation for her to offer daily cruises for up to twelve guests.
We expect to be offering full day cruises, initially out into the
entrance to the Sound of Mull, looking for whales, sharks, porpoises,
seals and sea eagles if we are lucky and then heading up the calm waters
of Loch Sunart, considered to be the most beautiful sea loch in
Scotland. We will be stopping for two hours at the new jetty in Salen
for time ashore for an optional guided walk of the ancient oak forest or
maybe just explore the village and lunch at the excellent local hotel.
Cruises will begin and end in Tobermory but as in previous years we hope
to offer Day Packages from Oban. We will be offering full details
on the website in the near future.
Hope to see you aboard in 2012,
