All our cruises start
and end in Tobermory.
The
Oban package includes the return ferry ticket to Craignure on Mull, the
return coach trip from Craignure to Tobermory and the cruise.
Solais Na Mara
is moored in Tobermory harbour just off the Calmac pier (where Tobermory
Tourist Office is located). You will be taken to the boat by our large
and comfortable tender. Once onboard Solais Na Mara you
will be introduced to the crew and given brief safety instructions
followed by a description of your route with places of interest to look
out for along the way. We have maps onboard for your use. Our
enthusiastic crew are there to point out the wildlife and landmarks to
you and to answer your questions.
Cruises will be varied
at the discretion of the skipper to maximise potential marine wildlife
sightings and to take advantage of the calmest sea conditions on the
day. Cruises will be motored, part sailed or fully sailed according to
prevailing wind and tidal conditions.
The cruises will take you out into the Sound
of Mull where you will experience the beauty and splendour of the
Hebridean coastline and sea. We do not go out into the open sea as there
is plenty of wildlife all around us here in the sheltered waters of the
Sound. Minke whales, dolphins, basking shark, porpoises, humpback whale
have all been sighted here from the deck of Solais Na Mara.
And, of course, not forgetting the soaring seabirds, gannets, guillemots
and many many more.

The 2 hour Sunset
cruise takes you out into the Sound of Mull and into the setting
sun. The sunsets are often spectacular as the sun dips into the sea
between Glengorm Castle on your left and the towering hills of
Ardnumurchan Point on your right. Departure times will vary, of course.
Plenty of wildlife is seen at this time of day, too.
The 7 hour All Day
cruise is available on request only as a whole boat charter. Advance
notice is normally required. With the whole day ahead of you there is
the opportunity to venture further, along Loch Sunart or into Loch
Drambuie, or maybe the nearby Hebridean Islands.

We work in association
with Hebridean Whale & Dolphin Trust and report our sightings for their
research purposes. See
www.whaledolphintrust.co.uk
We have been awarded
three stars as a Marine Wildlife Experience by Visit Scotland and are
also approved as an Accredited Wildlife Safe Operator (WISE)
WEATHER
We are very rarely
adversely affected by weather. In fact sightings of whales and dolphins
are easier when the sky and sea are grey. So come prepared for all
weathers! |
